Future Decoded, Microsoft’s two day conference looking at how digital technologies empower businesses and change productivity, welcomed lead speakers from Virgin Atlantic, Arsenal Football Club or Innocent Drink. This diversity of companies highlighted how all sectors were concerned by IT related issues and the importance it took in the daily routine of a company.

Rob Jones, head of Sales UK, had the honour to be invited to present as part of a start-up show case.

Here is some of what you should not have missed:

  • The chief digital and information officer of the Ministry of Defense,  Mike Stone, made a speech about how the 20,000 users of their network will move to a new one during a 12 month process to ensure safety and accessibility issues on a “private like” cloud performed by Azure Stack

  • Craig Kreeger, CEO at Virgin Atlantic, explained how they introduced and tested different new technologies such as smartwatches with their staff to entertain a technology driven attitude at Virgin Atlantic (and how there were able to let go the ones giving weak productivity results).

  • The IT Director of Arsenal Football Club raised the interesting issue of how to manage IT infrastructures through the growth of a company especially when those infrastructures don’t only affect employees but are also needed externally with e-commerce.

Of course the main speech was given by Satya Nadella, CEO at Microsoft, who made a great impression by showing “Microsoft’s reinvention” through a mobile and cloud approach to answer growing mobility issues. He underlined that “work” is everyday more of an action than a place.

Nadella announced the creation of data centers along with Dynamics CRM Online and underlined the development made on Microsoft apps. He entertained the crowd by calling an Iphone with Microsoft apps on it “Iphone Pro” and showed some visionary projects led by its teams.

Thus Microsoft achieved to make a relevant conference about technology and productivity thanks to a range of speakers that made brilliant explanations of the expertise of Microsoft and the quality of their services for small and big companies.
